MONDAY BLUES: 7 TIPS TO START THE WEEK IN STYLE
Every Sunday night it’s the same thing, you wonder why the weekend went by so quickly, and you only have one thing in mind: the long week ahead and the ton of work that awaits you … in short, you begin to feel the first effects of the Monday blues. But it is possible to change that. Thanks to our advice and with the right frame of mind, you will be able to start this new week on a positive note. You will see, Monday will be just another day!
1. PLAN YOUR MONDAY MORNING FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
It’s Monday morning. Here you are sitting at your desk and you already have a pile of urgent files to deal with for the week… just looking at it gets you down. A good solution: start planning your Monday tasks on Friday afternoon! How? ‘Or’ What ? Prepare a to-do list and assign those tasks to a day of the week. You will quickly realize that being well organized will make your Monday much more enjoyable.
2. IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND FIND THE SOLUTION
Are you one of those people who is always in a bad mood on Sunday night because you already think about the alarm clock ringing you out of bed the next morning? Let’s be honest: it’s all about the state of mind! Think about why you hate Mondays and try to find a solution. Read a good book, call your friends, meditate, or make a list of things for which you are grateful. Refocus on the essentials and especially positive!
3. PREPARE YOUR LUNCHES FOR THE WEEK ON SUNDAY
Cooking can be very relaxing. Anticipating, or even preparing all your meals for the week can be a great way to occupy your Sunday evening. This will save you time on weekdays and not worry about what to eat the next day at lunch break every night.
4. MUSIC SOOTHES MOUTHS
Get up to music on Monday morning. This will give you all the motivation you need to face this new week. Nothing like your favorite music to get you out of bed!
5. DON’T START THE WEEK STRESSED OUT
Try to develop a Monday ritual : have a delicious breakfast before you go to work, go for a walk or do a little yoga session. The important thing is not to start this new week completely stressed and tense.
Before you read your emails, take a look at your to-do list you wrote down on Friday. It’s a great way to set priorities for the day – follow your list carefully! – and not to let chaos set in.
6. BE GRATEFUL FOR EACH DAY
Monday, 6 a.m. The alarm clock rings… you are already in a terrible mood when you get out of bed. If you find it hard to be positive, write down 10 things in your life that you are grateful for. This list will help you put things into perspective by pointing out the positives, and allowing you to focus your energy on what is really worth it.
7. MAKE MONDAY YOUR FAVORITE DAY
What do you like on Monday? Nothing ? So now is the time to fix it! Don’t just try to survive that first day of the week, welcome it with open arms and if possible with a smile on your face! What if you made Monday night something special? Plan to have a good meal, watch an episode of your favorite series, or call your family or friends that day. Find something that will make Monday your favorite day of the week!
